Morongo Basin Ambulance is a 501(c)(3) community-based, non-profit, non-tax based corporation that was founded in 1948 by a group of seven resident volunteers in the small community of Joshua Tree. Growing with the needs of the community, MBA began hiring Emergency Medical Technicians in the early 1970s, and by the early 1980s, had progressed to offering Advanced Life Support services. With Paramedics not being integrated in every state until 1977, MBA is one of the founders, and therefore leaders, in providing Paramedic level service within our desert communities. Morongo Basin Ambulance responds to over 6,500 calls per year and covers over 2,700 square miles.
